It’s a joy to find an author you love, and then discover they have other books out, just waiting to be read. Here are some favored authors with an impressive list of titles that I simply haven’t had time to read yet.
Graeme Macrae Burnet
I loved His Bloody Project. I am very much looking forward to his detective series in The Disappearance of Adele Bedeau and The Accident on the A35.
Girl Waits With Gun is funny and fierce and was thrilled when Stewart wrote more with those characters. I am excited to read more of the Kopp Sisters series.
All of Fox’s previous three books — The Somnambulist, Elijah’s Mermaid, The Goddess and The Thief — were stunning and I’d love to read The Last Days of Leda Grey.
Smith’s novel about Louis Daguerre left me in tears. While I didn’t love Bright and Distant Shores as much, I still want to read The Last Painting of Sara de Vos.
Jane Steele was amazing. Her Sherlock stories are so good I can’t tell they’re not Conan Doyle. I really need to read her Gods of Gotham series.
The Sisters Brothers was a riot and a wonderful take on the Western genre (I hear the movie is pretty good, too). I need to read his follow-up, Undermajordomo Minor.
I AM OBSESSED WITH THE ERAST FANDORIN NOVELS. I’ve read four of the ten or so that exist. It took me awhile to acquire the English translations, but they are now patiently waiting on my shelf.
Her novel surrounding the mystery of the Mary Celeste was so well done. I need to go back and read Mary Reilley and Property.
Ghostland was precisely the kind of book I love. I’m reading Crainoklepty now and still need to get Afterlives of the Saints. I’m also looking forward to his forthcoming book on local monsters and legends.
Three Bags Full was so creative, and a good mystery besides. I’m very glad to see she has written another “sheep” mystery. Now I have to wait for the English translation.
