Sometimes embarking on a new literary journey is just too much to contemplate. Sometimes, you just need to read a known quantity, a story you love — something comfortable. Here are some of my favorite comfort reads.
Top Ten Tuesday: Leaving for other worlds
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is bookish worlds we’d want to live in, or at least visit. Since I have spent most of my life imagining other worlds, this should be a cinch.
REVIEW: THE STATE COUNSELLOR
Each of the Fandorin novels takes a slightly different tone, on purpose, as Akunin pays homage to the Doyle, Christie, and Fleming (Murder on the Leviathan is a take on Death on the Nile). The State Counsellor chapters alternate between spies of the dualling networks. The reader sees the push and pull and tangle from both sides.
