I’m so excited for another great year of Armchair BEA. Allow me to introduce myself…

2. What does your favorite/ideal reading space look like?

The key to a good reading nook is calm and comfortable. Something soft and separated from the busyness of outside.

3. Share your favorite book or reading related quote.

NeverTrust

“Never trust anyone who has not brought a book with them.” ― Lemony SnicketHorseradish

Seriously… who doesn’t bring something to read with them at all times?

4. If you were stranded on a deserted island, what 3 books would you bring? Why? What 3 non-book items would you bring? Why?

Deserted-Island2Ok, excepting anything useful (like Being Stranded for Dummies), I would bring The Count of Monte Cristo (Unabridged), the entire casebooks of Sherlock Holmes and The Woman in White. Again, if I don’t need anything useful like matches or sunscreen, I would bring a massive pile of journals and writing utensils, a musical instrument (probably my mandolin), and my camera.

5. What book would you love to see as a movie?

220px-1934_Count_of_Monte_CristoIronically, this goes back to the last question.  I want to see a version of The Count of Monte Cristo that is itself unabridged. Although there are some enjoyable adaptations out there,  I want a 6 or 8 hour miniseries version that shows all of the wonderful “side” stories like Luigi Vampa and Valentin.

I look forward to “meeting” my fellow Armchair-ers!

  1. Ah, another fan of the mini-series. You really need a mini-series to explore all of the wonderful “side” stories in a book. The stuff that gets cut in a movie adaptation. I want a mini-series for Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.

Loving the Lemony Snicket quote! The Count of Monte Cristo was next on my audiobook list. My library cancelled the service last week. SMH.

Enjoy your week of Armchair BEA!

  2. Those are some gorgeous book nooks! If I could find a nice, secluded meadow, I would definitely have that set-up. 😀 I really enjoyed reading the Count of Monte Cristo and would love to see a miniseries of it! (haven’t watched any of the adaptations though).

Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier!

  3. Hi Meaghan! I read the Count of Monte Cristo in January and LOVED IT! It was one of those books that I’d wanted to read for years and I made myself start the year off with it to make sure it finally got read. A mini-series would be fantastic. I haven’t seen any of the movie adaptations of it yet. Hope you have a fabulous Armchair BEA!

  4. Oooh I definitely love to have that reading nook in the first pinned pick! And the Lemony Snicket poster made me laugh, because this weekend I went to my SIL’s baby shower and tweeted if it would be rude to bring a book with me. I’ll definitely take Lemony’s advice and say that would have been out of character if I *hadn’t* brought the book!

I love your blog (it’s gorgeous btw!) and I’m really glad you stopped by our Armchair postand said hello this morning!

  5. Oh, good desert island picks. Would you believe I’ve never read The Count of Monte Cristo? Well, …yet. Because it’ll happen one day, I swear it! My husband loves it and I’ve read other Dumas, but I’ve never quite been in the mood to pick it up.

  6. The only problem with reading in a field is the bugs! You are correct in bringing some of the longer classics to your island– I spent two weeks reading White’s The Once and Future King while traveling in Ireland, but went to an all day track meet with only Walden and regretted it. Never have finished that book! Hope you have fun with Armchair BEA!

  7. That first reading nook looks ideal, very comfy and tucked away. I don’t read a ton of classics, but The Count of Monte Cristo is definitely one on my “reading bucket list.”
