Some information I found said this was drawn as an illustration for a 1928 edition of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow but wasn’t used. I cannot corroborate that. However, Rackham was a wonderful artist and illustrated many classic books including Alice in Wonderland and Grimm’s Fairy Tales. His work always has a mystical look to it.
